From several perspectives, as an editor, writer, strategist and analyst, I've worked at the core of the business world, serving business and government decision-makers.
Until recently I operated as an in-house journalist (and "change agent") inside a Big Four firm, as Manager of Strategic Thought Leadership, Office of the Chairman. There I interviewed partners and improved normal and crisis communication with top clients. I also conducted in-depth research on industries and companies.
My most unique experience was serving as founding editor and Hanoi bureau chief of The Vietnam Business Journal, a 70-page color magazine focused on industry and economic issues and trends for decision-makers. The VBJ dug deep, and was unafraid to be witty and contrarian. This style served us well -- when I left Hanoi and returned to New York after several years there, I said goodbye to 70,000 loyal readers in 30 countries.
This background has refined my abilities to communicate with a high-level audience and cultivate key sources. I have a deep and broad understanding of business issues and trends, along with the proper tools to analyze them qualitatively and with a distinctive voice. |
