News Of The World!
Brits mate too. Some people read this
instead of a normal paper. It's got sports, travel, politics, and pix of the famous
coupling. Fifty percent of its international news is about Madonna. Come to think of it, this
is an ordinary paper. |
Suck
This one's got proprietary sentiments toward
the web; launches righteous, witty attacks against perceived mortal enemies, mostly
temples of the American culture (such as supermarkets). Made first mark, we think,
especially for collectible netmoguls
playing cards. Smirky, inside and seemingly determined to rise to the level of intelligent
discourse, despite conflicting proclivities. |
Nerve
All about sex, but this one's
for us smart people. Articles, fancy photos, diaries of swingers and prostitutes, message
boards, etc. Wonderful design (now in print also). In Nerve is a testimonial to the Web's
ability to reflect peoples' tastes when left uncensored by their brick and mortal
communities. |
Getting It
Typically at least one fresh piece that slaps you onto the lumpy couch of American culture
. Recent favorite was an insightful report on Jennicam's ill crash. Valiant and amusing
stuggle to rise above sophomorism, hopeless, yet users are curiously drawn. And great
design. California but still. |
Disobey
Not your ordinary "Now that I
watched every television show I'll tell you how dumb they are and smart I am" site --
instead, it's rather challenging and creative. Famous first for its "ghost
sites" collection, "netslaves" chronicle and random quotes. Lots of
smartypants thoughts on Stephen Hawking. Far gone into Webbyville. |
Kenlayne
Deep commentary into what's happening in the world, and also how it is being covered by
the mainstream American media. Must-read for journalism students to find out how they,
too, will be in 15 or 20 years. This founder of the legendary, often hilarious and expired tabloid.net is presently an
instrumental voice of Online Journalism Review.
Hysterical, concerned, insidery, bent-left and darn proud of it (great links too). |
Spark
With a clear mind you can learn stuff. For
smart people who swim in the ocean of ideas, religion, technology, morality and other big
stuff. That ocean from here is far off, but I know from reliable sources that this ezine
is the real deal. |
Tag
This one's got NYC tattooed all over it; food, music, your body and what's fun to do with
it. Compellingly interactive and undoubtedly a more honest (and flattering) reflection of
New York's poplace than the scary, why-aren't-you-a-millionaire-yet New York Magazine. |

"I may live in a shitty apartment in South Boston,
drink and smoke my way through life, be a loser, but when I blast these tunes on my Trans
Am stereo, I go wild, man."
- Judas Priest CD review by Chaz
| "Maxim, the swanky men's magazine transplanted to our
shores from Britain in '97, threw a holiday bash in Manhattan last week...a
fake-snow-adorned theme-club serving a bit of the old T & A on ice over a bed of
unthawed second-string celebrities. ..Who's that middle-aged sitcom guy in the tux?
"Oh I think he was the neighbor on Mad About You," postulated the photographer
from World Photo." |
